Arlovski, which admittedly is (and especially was at the time was) a validly impressive achievement, but other than that who? Wes Sims? Ricco Rodriguez? Jason Lambert? A 19 year old Ben Rothwell? Those wins are nothing to be ashamed of, but if that's why people think he should be brought back into the UFC i just don't get it. His main "skill" is being tall (long reach) combined with being physically proportionately adequate in relation to that 'ability' in the heavyweight division. The only reason that Tim was champ at all is because there was really no one(besides Arlovski) of real merit in the UFC's heavyweight division at the time.

On a side note; I used to call him "the partially shaven Snuffleupagus", because he reminds me of a big, dumb, slow, half-shaven, over-sized Muppet. ...Now it's very rare that he ever comes up at all when talking about heavyweight contenders so i wouldn't know what to call him anymore.

Tim Sylvia doesn't belong in the UFC but I wouldn't be surprised if he was indeed resigned. With the HW division looking so shitty and Dana signing any fighter with a pulse it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Tim has good hands, that's about it. I think at the time, he probably had the best hands in the HW division. I don't know the circumstances surrounding his 300 + showing for his last fight, but if it's just laziness, I don't know why DW would even welcome him back in the octagon. I mean if the reasoning for bringing someone back to the UFC was because the UFC's HW division sucks, why bring a sucky, unmotivated fighter in?

Are you serious?!? Tim Sylvia is a multiple time UFC HW Champion besides the fluke loss to Mercer(yes I said fluke) His only other losses are to Randy, Big Nog, Frank Mir and Andre all of them are former HW Champions and then the only loss outside of that is to Fedor who many of you consider to be the best HW in the world.

Personally, I hope he goes to Strikeforce and destroys their HW division that way it makes it look even more pointless for Fedor to be there.

When Tim comes in over 300lbs and looks like a swamp monster, I don't think that loss to Mercer is a "fluke". I think he got exactly what he deserved.

there ws Randy couture who got beat up by Ricco, then Sylvia ktfo Ricco, was champ until AA beat him, then in the rematch he won the belt back from AA....then he was beat by Randy and lost the decision

basically the ufc HW division was really weak and the same few fighters passed the belt around
